From Employee To Patient: My story with Botulinum Toxin XEOMIN

My name is Stephanie, I am 27 years old and I am the Development and Communications Coordinator at Mark Medical Care.

As a journalist, I am naturally curious and as a good Latina woman beauty have always been one of my interests. However, I must accept that deep rejuvenation treatments, especially those that include the application of botulinum toxin, were a little scary for me, I knew I needed it because of the condition of my skin but being so young made me a little hesitant.

¡New Year – New Life!

I wanted to start 2018 with a different vibe and positive energy, feeling pretty and confident, which encouraged to make the decision. It was a short and simple process; I went for a consultation with one of the experts of the medical team at Mark Medical Care, she evaluated me and told me how many units of botulinum toxin I needed, then they applied cold gel packs to numb my forehead and finally punctures with a very fine needle.

How does XEOMIN (incobotulinumtoxinA) work?

Botulinum toxin type A, the active ingredient in XEOMIN®, acts on nerve endings to prevent muscles from contracting. By reducing these contractions, XEOMIN® can temporarily reduce the expression lines.

¿Why Botulinum Toxin at 27?/

Ever since I was a girl I suffered from skin allergies and according to the dermatologists I consulted, this condition had consequences on the texture of my skin, which tended to be very dry. That dryness made it vulnerable to the formation of fine lines that over time, turned into deep wrinkles on my forehead.

The minute I started working at Mark Medical Care, I was tempted to ask Dr. Mark about my case and although his busy schedule and my daily activities as a professional made it difficult to schedule a consultation, two weeks before Happy New Year’s I decided to give the botulinum toxin a try. I also knew that I was at the right place, a medical office with experienced and trained medical professionals for the procedure.

Among the recommendations, I was asked to sleep on my back and to not exercise for the rest of the day. I have to accept that I felt a bit of discomfort and headache that night, but the next day those symptoms disappeared. Many people after this treatment may experience small bruises from the ‘punctures’, fortunately that was not my case.

Usually we all want to see an immediate change after our treatment, but for me those profound wrinkles only started to improve after one week of the application. Now, I couldn’t be happier with my decision that’s why I wanted to share my experience so everyone can know that with the right number of units, botulinum toxin is a great ally when it comes to attenuating wrinkles, without eliminating the face’s natural expression.

At Mark Medical Care, we use with XEOMIN® (incobotulinumtoxinA), a prescription drug that contains botulinum toxin type A. In the world of aesthetic medicine, it is used to temporarily improve the appearance of wrinkles on the forehead, brow, and crow’s feet.
